Statement:

Christy Singleton’s work is inherently rooted in the power of the vernacular and unknowable psychological narratives. Being a pungent commentator on U. S. class and popular culture, her work is influenced by the raw, immediate qualities of self taught artists, the flash pop awkward images of New York socialites, the vast worlds of commercial animation and advertising, and the color palettes of the 70's and 80's. Her work teeters on the edge of satire, while also falling into an escapist examination of her own childhood environments watching television sets and exploring the back alley strip mall suburbs of Atlanta.
